How to Clean Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood floors are durable and beautiful. They are an excellent addition to any home. To maintain their beauty and prolong their life, they must regularly be cleaned. Cleaning your flooring may seem simple, but that causes many people to overlook the details of cleaning them. They need to be cleaned thoroughly once a month to remove any dirt and keep them protected. The steps that are involved with cleaning your flooring include:

• Sweep Daily: Sweep your floors daily with a broom or hardwood floor mop. You can pre-treat a microfiber dust mop with a dusting solution to pick up dirt and dust and prevent damage to the flooring.

• Vacuum Weekly: Vacuuming your floors is an easy way to pick up dirt, dust, and debris. Be sure to turn off the brush roll of your vacuum because it can scratch your flooring.

• Mop Your Flooring: Mopping your floors should happen regularly. When you mop your floors, wring out the mop so that it is not dripping wet. Your mop should be damp only. You do not want to let standing water on your floors. We recommend using a spray-and-mop product or disposable wet pads that are designed for cleaning hardwood floors. Do not steam-mop your hardwood flooring unless it is made specifically for hardwood.



• Use Floor Polish: Floor polish will restore the look of your flooring. It will protect your floor and fill in some scratches.
